A Reader at Cardiff University School of Biosciences, he has dedicated his career to advancing wildlife conservation, ecological research and public engagement with the natural world. His expertise spans conservation biology, protected species ecology, comparative anatomy and environmental science, and he has worked extensively with conservation organisations, government agencies and law enforcement on wildlife protection both in the UK and internationally.
Many people will recognise Rhys from his acclaimed BBC television series Rhys Jones’s Wildlife Patrol and Rhys to the Rescue, along with numerous appearances on wildlife programmes alongside some of the UK’s most respected natural history presenters. His ability to make science accessible has inspired audiences of all ages and earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Presenter.
