Education

Rescue – Rehabilitate – Release

One of our aims as a registered charity is to educate the wider public about how to help hedgehogs.

Education is vital if we want to save this special species. We engage with many through the medium of social media, attending events and providing education talks.

We can deliver a talk tailored to the audience, from school children, to wildlife groups.

Please note we do not bring hedgehogs to talks or events, as they are all undergoing treatment.

We do not charge to attend, however; as a wildlife rescue donations are gratefully received.

Nurseries, Schools, Brownies and Scout groups

We recommend a donation between £20 and £30

If the children could also bring in a tin our pouch of cat food this would be appreciated.

Please note many of our carers do work full time; therefore we often struggle to fulfil all school requests.

We will however, endeavour to accommodate as many as possible.

Nature, Gardening Groups/WI:

As a charity we survive on donations to carry out our work, it is expected that groups will make a suitable donation.

This is at the groups’ discretion; however we recommend a donation of between

£30 and £40.

 Corporate organisations:

Please contact us for a quote. This will be based on the size of the organisation, annual turnover and time given.

Next Step

If you would like to contact us to invite us to an event, show or talk, please fill in and submit the form below.

Payment would then be made by Bank Transfer or a Cheque payable to ‘Hedgehog Helpline’ can be given to our carer on the day or posted.

Please do not advertise we will be attending; until we have confirmed directly with you.

Please email us at talks@hedgehoghepline.co.uk  and we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your request.

Important**

**We have a welfare policy therefore; we are unable to bring Hedgehogs to a talk or event, as they are in care due to sickness or an injury and would breach not only our policy but that of the Animal Welfare Regulations of Wales Act 2020

Next Steps

Our call handler will triage your call whilst providing support and guidance.

Offering an admission; you will be asked to deliver to one of our field hospitals closest to you, if you are out of the area or we are unable to accommodate you will be further guided.

Our field hospital manager will contact you directly, providing you with the address and time to delivery the hedgehog. Please do not worry; the hedgehog is safe in your emergency box. This is warming the hedgehog up and will allow our carer to administer treatment sooner.
